Class Descriptions

**Due to COVID-19 we are not currently offering any group aquatics classes.**

Aqua Boot Camp – A class designed for swimmers and land lovers – set in the pool but all about the cross-training. Enjoy a workout that will leave you feeling strong and exhausted at the same time. This class utilizes the water and pool deck for a greater variety of exercises and to challenge your endurance.

Aqua Cardio – High energy class designed to include traditional and non-traditional aerobic movements to raise your heart rate and get full-body toning.

Beginning Aquatics – A workout of cardio and toning exercises modified for new exercisers.

Deep Water –An independent deep water workout. Flotation belts, noodles, and equipment provided. No impact on your joints!

Lap Swim – Lanes are first come, first served. Lap Swim is designed to be a workout, so we ask swimmers to share lanes and circle swim during their time in the pool. Please be courteous to your fellow swimmers, so everyone can enjoy the workout. Swimmers must be doing continuous laps during Lap Swim times.

Mommy & Me – This class offers activity time with a parent/guardian and a child. Led by an instructor this class focuses on water safety and swimming skills while providing a bonding experience. This water introduction program helps the parent and the child get used to the water and see the pool as fun. Parents and children play games that introduce basic water skills such as blowing bubbles, breath control, kicking and floating. The class focuses on water orientation and encourages parents and babies to trust each other in the water. Parents must accompany the child in the water. Babies and toddlers who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper. The minimum age is 6 months, the child must be able to exhibit full head control.

Open Swim – This is a time for free swim in the pool. For your child's safety, kids under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent/adult (age 18 & up) when using a YMCA swimming pool unless in an organized, supervised program such as swim lessons. All nonswimmers should be within arms reach of an adult, with or without a lifejacket. No nonswimmers in the deep end. A Swim Test is required for entry to the deep end. Recommended bringing your own lifejacket to ensure fit. Pool rules include No Running, No Dunking, No Hanging on the Net, No Hanging on Lines, No Roughhousing. Limited toys are available if used properly.  Pool rules must be respected at all times.

Senior Aquatics – Focuses on older adults’ need to improve flexibility and strength with little or no impact.

WATERinMOTION – Fun and energizing aqua exercise program that gets you moving with great moves and music!

Water Interval – An intense interval workout combining resistance training and jogging.

Water Walking – Independent shallow water workout. Create your own workout or use our sample workout!
